The program Nachbartöne was founded in 2019 by Dominique Caillat and Michal Friedländer to bring together, through music, children of refugee backgrounds and their new neighbours in Berlin.

The program received support from the Liz Mohn Stiftung, Stiftung Do, House of Resources and private donors.

In 2022 The program received the Hauptstadtpreis für Integration and Tolerance.

Nachbartöne will restart in 2025.
